We are seeking talented, enthusiastic aspiring aquatic scientists to join our Aquatic Sciences team. We have offices throughout California and our staff work on projects across the Western United States. The successful candidate will join our team of aquatic specialists working on a variety of projects including aquatic ecology, water quality, environmental monitoring, and ecological restoration field programs. Successful candidates may also have opportunities for involvement in environmental impact assessments and multidisciplinary projects across various Environmental Services teams.
Your Responsibilities:
- Complete field programs as a field crew lead.
- Complete field programs as an environmental monitor.
- Complete quality and completeness checks on field data.
- Complete daily field reports and contribute to technical reports or other writing assignments.
- Prioritize safety in all tasks.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience as a field crew lead.
- Familiarity with biological field methods, such as electrofishing, hook and line sampling, gill netting sampling, seining, fish identification, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, sediment sampling, stream assessment methods, and the use of tools such as backpack electrofishers, water quality meters, temperature loggers, flow meters, streamflow/discharge.
- Proficient with QAQC, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience in working with steelhead and salmon including surveys, capture and handling, tagging, and data analysis.
- Availability to complete field work in urban, rural and/or in remote and challenging locations.
- Ability to travel and support work inside and outside the state of California.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong professional communication and organizational skills.
Education and Experience
- The ideal candidate should have 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar field.
- The following are assets but not required: applicable professional development skills courses electrofishing certificate; Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate; UTV training; H2S Alive; Swiftwater Rescue Training.
- Boat operation experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$80,300.00 - $116,500.00 Annually
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
**Benefits Summary:** Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
