Director of Surgical Services
**Location:** Reston, VA
**Pay Range:** $146,203 – $200,000 (based on experience)
**Bonus:** 17.5% annual director bonus (with 150% upside potential)
**Relocation Assistance:** Available
**Schedule:** Full-time, Days (No Weekends)
**Reporting Structure:** Reports to COO; 2 managers plus CVOR manager (dotted-line report); oversees 100 FTEs
**Department:** 18 ORs, 2 endoscopy suites; 12,000 surgeries annually; broad case mix including spine, neuro, ortho, robotics, CV, oncology; robotics platform (Mako, Globus, XI); open heart program in development
Position Summary
The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership and ensuring top-quality, patient-centered surgical care. This leader manages resources, develops service lines, cultivates leadership, maintains strong physician and administration relationships, and operates with strong business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
+ Advance patient and customer experience in surgical services
+ Set strategic vision, goals, and standards of care for the department
+ Design, develop, and implement processes to measure and ensure compliance and consistent quality care
+ Oversee performance improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and safety standards for patients, staff, and facilities
+ Foster employee engagement through evidence-based practices, effective feedback, coaching, and performance documentation
+ Adhere to all Human Resource policies and foster positive department culture
+ Build strong relationships within the hospital and across departments to deliver organization and departmental objectives
+ Support pipeline development and strategic career advancement for team members
+ Participate in service, department, and hospital committees, communicating actions and progress
+ Oversee surgical services program operations in line with mission and quality patient care
+ Stay abreast of regulatory standards and maintain program compliance
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
+ Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
+ Minimum 3 years’ experience in surgical services
+ Minimum 3 years in a leadership role preferred (or equivalent combination of education/experience)
+ Current RN license (in accordance with state law and regulation)
+ Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
+ Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred

**Pay Details:** $146,203.00 to $190,070.00 per year
