Job Description: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong experience in the design and development of switchgear and related systems. This position is part of a growing team dedicated to creating custom solutions for a variety of industries. The ideal candidate will bring innovative ideas from concept to design and production, ensuring compliance with industry and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

+ Design and develop mechanical layouts and assemblies for switchgear, switchboards, and related systems.

+ Create and revise detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor or equivalent 3D CAD software and AutoCAD 2D.

+ Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure seamless mechanical and electrical integration of components.

+ Provide hands-on factory floor support to resolve design, fit, or assembly issues during production.

+ Participate in research and development projects, contributing to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

+ Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, customer specifications, and manufacturing capabilities.

+ Troubleshoot design and fabrication challenges with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

+ Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for all design files and drawings.

+ Manage time effectively to meet project schedules and deadlines for customer approval drawings, BOM release, and production support.

+ Communicate effectively across departments to support smooth project execution and timely delivery.

Essential Skills

+ At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design.

+ Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience with a switchgear manufacturer.

+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

+ Ability to maintain accurate documentation and revision control.

+ Effective time management skills to meet project deadlines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
