SUMMARY:
The Family Peer Advocate will support families and caregivers with children in the Youth and Family department by offering guidance, resources, and advocacy based on shared lived experiences. The advocate will assist families in accessing services, understanding their rights, and connecting with community resources. They will work closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other agencies to ensure that families receive the support and services they need.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Family Support & Advocacy: Empower families by providing education on system navigation, rights, and services, while promoting active participation in their child's care and fostering positive behavioral strategies.
+ Service Coordination & Community Engagement: Make referrals, facilitate access to services, conduct assessments to identify gaps, and provide support in various community settings including homes.
+ Training, Leadership & Collaboration: Lead parent education, facilitate peer advocate training, and collaborate with providers and multidisciplinary teams to enhance family-driven practices and system responsiveness.
+ Compliance & Professional Development: Maintain required documentation, obtain/maintain OMH-approved credentials, participate in supervision and training, and support multiple sites based on departmental needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Provisional Family Peer Advocate Credential (PFPA)
+ Family Peer Advocate Credential must be obtained within 18 months of receiving the Provisional Family Peer Advocate credential
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School Diploma/GED

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
