Job Summary:
The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through Education, Biomedical Research, and Health Care. Beyond our downtown campus, we provide care through our clinics and offices across the greater Syracuse area.
In support of our ongoing growth, we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Providers to join the region’s Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Downtown Campus.
Key responsibilities:
+ Conduct inpatient encounters at the downtown campus, providing education to and interfacing with primary teams, patients, and families prior to discharge.
+ Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team.
+ Complete bedside procedures including (but not limited to) arterial line placement, central line placement, thoracentesis, and intubation.
As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program).
+ NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
+ Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
+ Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
+ CPR-BLS and ACLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
+ 2 years of experience in the ICU setting as an APP
+ Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience performing routine invasive procedures common to the critical care setting.
Work Days:
Varies, based on department needs
+ This is primarily a 12-hour night shift with the possibility of rotation into days.
+ Rotating weekends and holidays.
