Summary This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAE) Community Programs (N92) Branch, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, at Joint Base Pearl Habor Hickam (JPHH), Honolulu, HI. The purpose of this position is to provide customer service to patrons as well as to perform a variety of duties in support of the MWR community recreation program; located at Tradewinds on Hickam. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates a limited-service bar such as portable bars for private parties and banquets. Mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, receives and records payment at time of sale, and maintains inventory of stock. Ensures bar is in a presentable and sanitary condition. Receives instructions concerning the proper operation of the bar either orally or in writing from the manager and is held responsible for the proper operation of the limited-service bar. Performs basic duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washes bar equipment, glassware, utensils, etc. to maintain a constant and clean working area. Ensures all current sanitation requirements are followed and maintained. Performs other related duties as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Knowledge and skill to mix and serve beverages from a bar, which is limited to a few varieties and brands of liquor, soda, beer, and wine. Pre-mixed beverages, such as daiquiris, are served; however, beverages of the exotic variety are not mixed or served. Knowledge of the correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages according to name requested from patrons or cocktail attendants. Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Ability to collect tabs or chits in appropriate amounts and reconcile them with the quantities and prices of items dispensed. Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and occasionally objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Work is normally performed inside with adequate light, heat and fresh air. Incumbents are exposed to the possibility of chapped hands, bruises, and cuts. Applicants must be 21years old or older. Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and relationship with others. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Must meet Federal employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement. Additional Information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Executive Order 12564 requires a Federal workplace free of illegal drugs.
