    Distinguishing Features of the Class

     

    Performs field investigations/inspections of stormwater infrastructure and completes reporting/analysis of stormwater data.

     

    120-Day assignment working up to 40 hours weekly depending on available work. Typical employment duration is 4 consecutive months.

     

    Acceptable Experience and Training

     

    + Completion of one (1) year in an Environmental Science, Engineering or related program with course work in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems, or Environmental Engineering;

    + Or any other combination of experience and education that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work;

    + Preferred experience with Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS.

    Required Special Qualifications

     

    + Possession of a valid Iowa driver's license.

    + Requires satisfactory criminal, sex offender and if applicable driving record background checks.

    Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)

     

    + Performs stormwater sampling and field analysis of stormwater outfalls at creeks and open water bodies;

    + Completes construction runoff control inspections;

    + Investigates illicit discharges;

    + Updates GIS and stormwater permit data;

    + Assists with stormwater permit compliance;

    + Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification
