Electrical Engineer
Job Description
In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, bidding, overseeing, and executing electrical engineering projects. You will support Project Engineers and Electricians by assisting with the development of machine control concepts, project estimates, technical proposal content, and presentation of project concepts, as well as designing solutions for clients. You will collaborate with internal and external customers to review and update technical objectives throughout the project life cycle and participate in system installations as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Design and specify medium-voltage (5kV -35kV) and low voltage (120V-480V, 600V) electrical distribution systems, including unit substation, switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, and bus duct systems.
+ Create transformer specifications and determine feeder sizing based on calculated demand loads, voltage drop analysis, and coordination studies.
+ Design power distribution systems for industrial plants and manufacturing environments, including power distribution, industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing process projects.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in electrical engineering and electrical design.
+ Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and SKM PowerTools.
+ Knowledge of PLC and HMI systems.
+ Working knowledge of UL standards applicable to industrial power systems.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Strong project management skills, with a successful track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited university, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, with a focus on medium voltage systems.
+ 3–5+ years of experience in power engineering.
+ Proven ability to make a day-one impact through design and project execution.
+ Clear path or prior experience in power engineer acquisition, design, and project leadership.
+ Exposure to control system design and commissioning activities.
+ Willingness to invest time onsite early in projects to understand physical layouts and support commissioning and testing.
Work Environment
The company is a smaller, privately-owned entity with management onsite. Engineers will spend a significant amount of time at the company's brick-and-mortar facility for concepting and engineering work. The company services various industries, including agriculture, grain handling, chemical processing, metals, discreet manufacturing, and pet foods. Engineers may need to travel to job locations requiring overnight stays. The position is hourly and eligible for overtime, with long-term benefits such as paid holidays, vacation, a 401k plan, and comprehensive healthcare coverage. Engineers have autonomy and can manage projects from start to finish.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
