    The Laboratory Support Staff plays a crucial role in supporting research and development activities by meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment. This position requires proactive and collaborative work with a team to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory functions. After an initial training period, responsibilities include inventory management, laboratory maintenance, and execution of molecular and microbiological experiments. The role involves handling potentially hazardous materials with appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety regulations and quality systems. Communication and coordination with supervisors are essential for success in this role.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist with stocking and inventorying project-specific laboratory supplies.

    + Participate in weekly cleaning activities to maintain a clean laboratory environment.

    + Follow detailed instructions for the execution of molecular and microbiological experiments and procedures.

    + Work in a Biosafety Level 2 environment using appropriate PPE for contamination and infection control.

    + Use electronic laboratory notebooks to record experimental details accurately.

    + Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces according to operational, quality, and safety protocols.

    + Communicate progress on assigned tasks effectively with supervisors.

    + Perform additional tasks as assigned, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and Quality Management System guidelines.

    Essential Skills

    + Basic laboratory skills in a BSL 2 environment.

    + Technical and organizational skills with attention to detail.

    + Ability to follow established standard operating procedures and study-specific protocols.

    + Experience with sterile techniques for handling potentially pathogenic organisms and patient samples.

    + Proficiency in using electronic laboratory notebooks and maintaining experimental records.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree with biology coursework is preferred.

    + 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

    Work Environment

    This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT, and involves working in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with a flexible start time. The role is part of a 12-month contract. The laboratory setting requires the use of appropriate PPE and adherence to safety and quality management protocols. Employees are expected to engage in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a focus on safety and compliance.

    This is a Contract position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
