    The Materials Engineer will provide practical support solutions to technical engineering problems to optimize materials performance through analysis and simulation. This role involves documenting findings, communicating reports and technical presentations at engineering meetings, and participating in program reviews. The engineer will support future engineering needs and modifications required to provide next generation materials for aerospace and nuclear environments. They will assume technical and engineering responsibility for segments or key portions of contracts, provide technical communication within the company management, and may represent the company as a technical contact to customers. The role requires maintaining the strict confidentiality of sensitive information and working in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide practical support solutions to optimize materials performance through analysis and simulation.

    + Document findings and communicate reports and technical presentations at engineering meetings.

    + Participate in program reviews.

    + Support future engineering needs and modifications for next generation materials in aerospace and nuclear environments.

    + Assume technical and engineering responsibility for segments or key portions of contracts.

    + Provide technical communication within the company management and represent the company as a technical contact to customers.

    + Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

    + Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

    Essential Skills

    + Expertise in ceramic and composite materials, composite analysis, and composite engineering.

    + Proficiency in ANSYS or ABAQUS for finite element analysis.

    + Understanding of material behavior theories, including damage accumulation/failure models within a multiscale modeling framework.

    + Excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or PhD in engineering or related technical discipline.

    + Six or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, four or more years with a master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD.

    + General knowledge of thermo-mechanical materials modeling approaches.

    + Experience with machine learning algorithms as applied to materials engineering is desirable.

    + Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.

    The role involves working in a highly technical environment with a focus on aerospace and nuclear materials. The position requires adherence to established safety procedures and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Poway, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $200000.00/yr.

     

    Competitive benefits totaling $30K+
