Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer I is a self-starter who will review and provide input for supplier selection activities including supplier evaluation and quality systems audits. They will provide front-line support to resolve supplier quality issues, while driving permanent supplier corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence. They will work directly with suppliers and assist the SQE-II to improve metrology choices, mistake-proofing, and other various process improvement methodologies (i.e. SPC, poka-yoke, etc). Required travel is estimated to be 25%.
Key Responsibilities:
+ First Article Inspection Report (F.A.I.R.) review and approval
+ Perform basic problem-solving with suppliers, i.e. Plan-Do-Check-Act (P.D.C.A.)
+ Coordinate and communicate receiving inspection activities
+ Perform data collection / analyze data collected by Supplier Quality Technician (SQT)
+ Perform advanced statistical analysis of supplier data in support of sampling inspection
+ Identify supplier quality performance and trends that lead to supplier improvement efforts
+ Supplier-facing communicator, both verbally and in person
+ Parker Designated Quality Representative (P.D.Q.R.) certification
+ Coordinate supplier Certificate of Conformance (C of C) reviews
+ Perform on-site supplier visits in response to non-conformance
+ Perform annual Supplier Quality Bundle Audit Review & Self Release Maintenance Audits
+ Assign and approve Supplier Corrective Action Requests (S.C.A.R.)
+ Analyze supplier metrology (inspection) techniques and provide recommended improvements
+ Assist Supplier Quality Engineering II and III with the following:
+ Establish, review and update supplier focused QMS procedures and work instructions
+ Cost analysis/Continuous Improvement projects in support of Legacy & Product Development teams
+ Supplier on-boarding audits
+ Supplier training in ZDP (Zero Defect Program) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) tools
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree (Technical Field) and/or 10 + years of consecutive experience in a supplier quality role in a manufacturing environment setting.
+ Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
+ Solid working knowledge of typical aerospace manufacturing and special processes, i.e. forging, casting, welding, brazing, heat treating, EDM, plating, etc.
+ Proven problem-solving skills
+ Ability to effectively communicate supplier status with all levels of the organization
+ Team Player
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Desired Qualifications:
+ Six-Sigma Green Belt
+ CQA certification
+ Leadership potential
