    Job Summary

    + Serve as the first point of contact for department inquiries and triage requests to the appropriate service section.

    + Coordinate compliance activities related to occupational safety and health regulations.

    + Support the UM-H Environment of Care: Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Plan and related sub-committees.

    + Provide training coordination and assist in delivering safety and environmental subject matter sessions.

    + Assist with procurement, review, and project management of contracts, permits, and service agreements with regulatory agencies and vendors.

    + Prepare and maintain reports, guidelines, manuals, newsletters, and other administrative documents.

    + Act as program lead for UM-H Prescription Safety Glasses program.

    + Assists with Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) program and chemical inventories for UM-H.

    + Participate in emergency response activities as needed.

    + Assist with data collection, reporting, and facility-focused inspections.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in administrative support with exposure to occupational health and safety programs and knowledge of Michigan Medicine safety, emergency management, and facilities operations.

    + Strong organizational and communication skills; comfortable speaking to groups.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe applications.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.

    + Valid driver's license and ability to pass physical examination for emergency response and PPE use.

    + Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.

    Background Screening

     

    University of Michigan Health System conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
