    Job Summary

    The Quality Specialist is primarily responsible for leading and supporting projects initiated in the Commercial Test Lab and business units supported. The role expands beyond the lab technician role by adding analytical and team leadership skills and works to connect the data trends in the lab to improvements in manufacturing principally by focusing on improving methods and measures by conducting measurement system analysis and the creation of high impact training materials.

    Essential Duties

    + Informal Team Leader for Commercial Test Lab technicians.

    + Leads safety activities and maintains a safe, neat work area at all times. Plan and manage 5S activities.

    + Assists with New Product Development (NPD) trials as well as PTR’s relating to product improvement, process improvement, and variation reduction.

    + Conducts full finished product and raw material evaluations via analytical testing

    + Conducts full competitive product analysis testing and product breakdowns and assists in report preparation.

    + Supports the development of new and/or revised test methods and conducts measurement capability studies as requested.

    + Supports testing for regulatory agencies (this will include travel to plants and agencies as requested).

    + Supports production training for test methods (this will include training to plants as requested) or the creation of media training materials possibility with the assistance of the Vuforia headset or similar technology

    + Analyzes lab and/or plant data for trends and develops and executes improvement plans for the relevant products / plants with a particular focus on improvements on methods and measures.

    + Assist in ensuring alignment between all systems and documentation - Finished Product Specs, Batch Sheets/Run Cards, TDS, Website, marketing material, Code approvals, etc.

    + Participate in internal plant audits, QSBP audit, and supplier audits when necessary.

    + Conducts product code compliance and qualification testing for regulatory agencies (e.g., UL FUS, etc)

    + Supports the development of new and/or revised testing methods to include new and existing equipment evaluations and measurement capability studies.

    + Assists with PTR’s and conducts post trial product evaluations for Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Process; Project Engineering, and R&D in support of NPD, strategic projects, product improvement, process improvement, and variation reduction.

    + Conducts full competitive product analysis testing and assists with reporting

    Qualifications Required

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) BS/BA preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Science or Math with 1+ year in quality or Manufacturing OR

    + Associate’s Degree (AA) AS/AA degree, preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Science or Math with 3+ years in quality or Manufacturing

    + Experience with the development of analytical procedures Required

    + The candidate must have experience with physical property or analytical testing and the accompanying equipment Required

    General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Strong interpersonal skills

    + Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task

    + Ability to work as a team player

    + Strong customer focus (both internal and external)

    + Must be willing to take initiative (self-starter)

    + Intermediate written and oral communication skills

    + Intermediate level knowledge of Google Suite

    + Intermediate time-management skills

    + Informal leader skills

    Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Demonstrated support for behavioral-based safety and compliance of accompanying procedures

    + Intermediate laboratory and analytical skills

    + Intermediate level knowledge of ASTM and its testing methods

    + Entry level knowledge of databases (e.g., WinSPC, QualTrend, Excel, etc.)

    + Intermediate level knowledge of manufacturing processes (roofing preferred)

    + Intermediate level knowledge of Process / Continuous Improvement techniques including: auditing, Statistical Process Control, variation reduction, and Root Cause Analysis

    + Familiar with standard GAF tools and practices

    + Intermediate level of knowledge and capability to submit and manage TDNs and RCNs

     

    Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

     

    Base Salary Range: $64,000-$88,000
