The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of Electronic Security Systems. The technician works both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls, troubleshoot system issues, and provide customer support. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
+ Install and program CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.
+ Identify risks to customers and provide effective solutions.
+ Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems.
+ Monitor inventory of service parts.
+ Install Low Voltage Systems and hardware.
+ Provide the main office with scheduling and materials on a weekly basis and upon request from direct supervisor.
+ Supervise and guide low voltage installation crews.
+ Conduct quality control checks and inspections before project turnover.
+ Train and mentor junior technicians and apprentices.
+ Coordinate daily tasks and ensure alignment with project schedules.
+ Enforce job site safety protocols, including PPE, ladders, lifts, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience.
+ Ability to handle physical workload and lift 50 pounds.
+ Previous experience in security installation, maintenance, wire running, carpenter, IT, Access, CCTV, or related fields.
+ Familiarity with hand and power tools.
+ Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ OSHA 30 and SST certification required prior to 90-day review.
+ Ability to differentiate colors for proper wiring and terminations.
+ Ability to drive and travel various distances and to multiple sites with your own vehicle.
+ Ability to stand for most of your working day.
+ Ability to climb ladders and perform work at heights.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
+ Low-voltage electronic installation skills.
+ Experience with Electronic Security Systems such as CCTV, Access Control, Intercom, Fire, and Electrical systems.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills with schematics and blueprints.
+ Well-organized and detail-oriented.
+ Positive attitude and team player mentality.
+ Desire and ability to learn about new products.
Work Environment
Work is done 100% onsite at customer locations. Technicians work both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls. This role involves traveling in your own vehicle to customer sites and the office to retrieve equipment and materials for each job. Work is mainly throughout the Tri-State area, with occasional travel to different locations as needed. Candidates are eligible for reimbursement for tolls, gas, and work-related expenses for work outside of New Jersey.

This is a Contract position based out of Parsippany, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
