Laboratory Technician
Job Description

PAY - $17/Hour
Responsibilities
+ Prepare samples by recording, weighing, and blending them for analysis.
+ Label plates with client and sample identifiers to maintain traceability throughout testing.
+ Pipette prepared solutions into tubes or plates according to established protocols.
+ Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate microbial growth processes.
+ Collect and place plates in incubators under specified time and temperature conditions.
+ Prepare media and broth required for pathogen testing and ensure materials are ready for subsequent testing sequences.
+ Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to accurately complete job responsibilities.
+ Organize and set up instruments and materials needed for analysis.
+ Read plates and tubes to determine organism counts in samples.
+ Contribute to corporate quality initiatives and continuous improvement processes.
+ Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment by performing routine housekeeping duties and adhering to scheduled cleaning protocols.
+ Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure laboratory environment.
+ Assist laboratory leadership in implementing, maintaining, and improving management systems.
+ Perform related tasks as assigned to support overall laboratory operations.

Work Environment
Duties are performed in a controlled laboratory environment with appropriate lighting and temperature regulation. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and testing materials may occur, requiring personal protective equipment such as gloves, lab coats, and safety glasses. Daily use of laboratory equipment like autoclaves is expected. Frequent lifting and transport of materials weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary, along with extended periods of standing during laboratory tasks. The ability to distinguish subtle variations in color shades is essential for accurate analysis. This facility is the largest third-party food testing site in the United States, hosting state-of-the-art lab equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
