The Laboratory Support Staff works to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment and operates proactively and collaboratively in a team to support research and development activities. After a training period, tasks will include inventorying and maintaining stocks of project-specific laboratory supplies, laboratory maintenance, and following instructions in the execution of molecular and microbiological experiments and procedures. This position also requires maintaining experimental records in electronic laboratory notebooks. The role necessitates working with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and applying proper techniques in handling potentially pathogenic organisms, patient samples, and other body fluids to ensure containment of hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with stocking project-specific laboratory supplies, including inventorying stock.
+ Participate in weekly cleaning activities to maintain a clean lab environment.
+ Follow detailed instructions in the execution of experiments and procedures.
+ Work in a Biosafety Level 2 environment using appropriate PPE with potentially pathogenic microbes, patient samples, and body fluids using sterile techniques for contamination and infection control.
+ Work in PCR areas using appropriate PPE while ensuring proper containment of nucleic acid contamination.
+ Use electronic laboratory notebooks to record experimental details.
+ Use and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces according to operational, quality, and safety requirements as outlined in protocols and standard operating procedures.
+ Communicate continually with the supervisor on the progress of assigned tasks.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Perform all work in compliance with corporate policies and within the guidelines of the Quality Management System.

+ Basic laboratory skills in a BSL 2 environment.
+ Technical skills in laboratory maintenance and experiment execution.
+ Organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to follow established standard operating procedures and study-specific protocols.
+ Communication and coordination skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree with biology coursework is preferred.
+ 1-2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting.
Work Environment
The position is located in Salt Lake City, UT, and follows a 9/80 schedule with flexible start times from Monday to Friday. This is a 12-month contract position. The role involves working in a laboratory setting with the requirement to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to strict safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
