    Job Title: Controls Engineer

    Job Description

    The primary role of the Controls Engineer is to initiate and design control systems from written sequences of operation, focusing on complex piping and wiring diagrams. The engineer will provide technical support across various control system projects, ensuring high-quality design and execution.

    Responsibilities

    + Engineer and design pneumatic piping diagrams.

    + Engineer and design electrical wiring diagrams.

    + Engineer and design hydraulic piping diagrams.

    + Design electrical control panels.

    + Design programmable logic controller (PLC) software.

    + Design human-machine interface (HMI) software.

    + Debug and provide start-up support for control systems.

    + Provide technical support for installation of tools and equipment.

    + Offer technical support for training plant personnel.

    + Travel to plant sites as needed.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficient in programmable machine controls hardware and software.

    + Proficient in Servo drive hardware and software.

    + Proficiency in AutoCad.

    + Familiarity with basic electrical and safety standards.

    + Ability to supervise projects and teams.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Bachelor's Degree in a technical field preferred.

    + 5-7 years of experience in controls engineering.

    + Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLCs, HMIs, and Rockwell software.

    + Experience in manufacturing support, machine controls, robotics, test systems, PLC, instrumentation, and vision systems.

    + Knowledge of automation, robotics, and troubleshooting.

    + Preferred experience with GPS - Engine Assembly, Cognex AI, Dalsa, Matrox cameras, Fanuc Robots/Cobots, and AMR OTTO and Bastian Auto Fork Truck.

    + Team player with good communication skills, energetic, and eager to learn.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is fast-paced and requires quick thinking and flexibility. The team consists of around 12 people, collaborating closely with production, quality, and maintenance departments. Daily activities include team meetings to discuss priorities, supporting production needs, and carrying out project work. There is a possibility for job extension and direct conversion based on performance. The role is based in the Buffalo/Niagara region, with a preference for local candidates to ensure retention.

    This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
