    Job Title: Building Engineer

    Position Overview

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced **Building Engineer** to join our facilities team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Assistant/Chief Engineer and Facilities Manager in the **daily maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of building systems** . The Building Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and energy efficiency of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, while also maintaining the integrity of the facility’s interior and exterior structures.

     

    This is a **full-time position with a regular shift from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM** , requiring a professional who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to minimizing downtime and optimizing building performance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    + **System Operations & Maintenance**

    + **Perform daily inspections, operations, and preventive maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.**

    + Monitor building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve system malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.

    + **Repairs & Facility Upkeep**

    + **Execute maintenance and repairs on building interiors and exteriors, including walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting.**

    + Support emergency repairs and respond to service requests in a timely manner.

    + Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes during all repair activities.

    + **Documentation & Reporting**

    + **Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repair histories.**

    + Assist in preparing reports on equipment performance, energy usage, and system reliability.

    + Provide recommendations for system upgrades and efficiency improvements.

    + **Collaboration & Support**

    + **Work closely with the Assistant/Chief Engineer and Facilities Manager to prioritize and execute maintenance schedules.**

    + Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.

    + Engage with tenants and clients in a professional manner, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    + Minimum of **5 years of experience** in commercial building maintenance or engineering.

    + Strong technical proficiency in **HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems** .

    + Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot complex building system issues.

    + Familiarity with **building automation systems (BAS)** and energy management practices.

    + Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and compliance standards.

    + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven experience in client-facing interactions.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

    + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

    Work Schedule

    + **Shift Hours:** 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

    + Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required to support emergency repairs or special projects.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr.
