Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center, Short Range Recovery Product Line, Long Range Surveillance Product Line, Industrial Operations Division, in ELIZABETH CITY, North Carolina. Responsibilities You will serve as the Deputy to the Division Chief (a military billet - O5), providing ongoing management continuity performing a variety of duties including budget, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the division's daily operations. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Develops plans independently or jointly with higher management to determine goals, policies, procedures, resource requirements and their allocation. Coordinating and directing the accomplishments of all functions comprising the assigned mission of the Division encompassing extremely large, difficult, and diverse programs and projects. Directing a large workforce engaged in but not limited to aircraft maintenance and overhaul, mechanical and electronic equipment repair, engineering support for the overhaul facility and operational field units, supply/logistics management, budget/financial management, contracting/procurement. Coordinating and directing the accomplishment of budget and accounting functions comprising the assigned mission of the organization. Interpersonal abilities and skills such as: getting individuals to work closely together effectively and efficiently; developing, maintaining, motivating, and coaching individuals and teams, building consensus within groups; and empowerment of others. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis. The ability to direct a large group of diverse projects related to aircraft or aircraft support. Developing and maintaining up-to-date information on the measure of performance Monitoring of progress towards meeting overall goals and objectives. Experience with civilian and military personnel systems and regulations sufficient to meet key requirements of Human Capital and staffing.
