    The Opportunity

     

    Yampa Valley Medical Center (YVMC) is seeking a Director of Operations to serve as a strategic operational leader responsible for enterprise-wide facility and support services performance. This role provides executive-level leadership to ensure operational excellence, safety, regulatory readiness, and financial stewardship across critical infrastructure and support functions.

     

    The Director of Operations functions as a strategic partner to executive leadership, translating organizational priorities into reliable execution while strengthening alignment between local operations and system resources. This position is ideal for a leader ready to operate at a VP-equivalent level within a complex, community-based healthcare environment.

    Pay: $63.32 - $101.31 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

    Summary:

    The Director of Operations directs and integrates facility and support service operations to ensure alignment with YVMC's mission, strategic objectives, and performance standards. This role is accountable for operational strategy, performance outcomes, and cross-functional coordination, with an emphasis on execution, resilience, and continuous improvement.

     

    The Director partners closely with clinical leaders, executive peers, and system teams to ensure YVMC's operational infrastructure supports safe patient care, workforce stability, and long-term sustainability.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Director of Operations plays a key role in the health system's strategic and operational efforts by:

    + Providing executive oversight of facility-based support services, including Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition Services, Facilities, Design & Construction, and dotted line support to Information Technology, Clinical Engineering, Supply Chain, Security and Language Services.

    + Leading operational strategy related to facility readiness, space planning, capital prioritization, infrastructure planning, and long-term asset management.

    + Establishing, monitoring, and acting on enterprise KPIs and dashboards to drive safety, quality, service, and financial performance.

    + Ensuring organizational readiness for accreditation, regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and life safety standards in partnership with subject matter leaders.

    + Partnering with finance and system stakeholders on operating budgets, capital planning, labor optimization, and cost stewardship with measurable results.

    + Anticipating operational risks and proactively implementing mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of operations in a rural healthcare setting.

    + Serving as a key liaison between YVMC and system operational teams to ensure alignment, accountability, and timely execution of initiatives.

    + Leading, mentoring, and developing operational leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.

    Candidate Qualifications

    The successful candidate is a seasoned healthcare (or other complex industry) operations leader with demonstrated experience operating at a senior leadership level. This individual brings strong executive presence, strategic judgment, and the ability to balance system alignment with local operational realities. Experience leading complex support services, managing performance at scale, and partnering with executive teams is essential.

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree. Preferred: Master's degree

    + 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare (or other complex industry) operations, facilities, or related support services
