Title:  Lead Therapist

Classification: Full-Time/Exempt

Reports To:       Outpatient Program Director

Job Summary:

The Lead Therapist is a member of the Treatment Team and will provide clinical supervision to Therapists/Counselors and interns. They will provide clinical oversight and consultation to all members of the Treatment Team. The Lead Therapist will also carry a caseload and provide direct care to clients including individual, group and family therapy. The Lead Therapist will work closely with the Director and Psychiatrist to provide leadership and clinical direction for the program.

Key Lead Responsibilities:

+ Function autonomously and use appropriate judgment in the analysis and problem solving of daily and crisis situations.

+ Prescept all new clinical staff and interns.

+ Meet regularly with and provide clinical supervision to Therapists/Counselors, interns as assigned.

+ Approve all documentation within required timeframes for all assigned staff.

+ Evaluate clinical staff and work in collaboration with Manager to complete Performance Reviews.

+ Facilitate Case Consultations.

+ Work with Director to structure an environment that supports gender-responsive and trauma-informed care and promotes the core values of POWER.

+ Facilitate completion of Annual Training Surveys/Individual Training Plans, assess clinical training needs of staff and review results with Manager.

+ Assist Director with ensuring continuous quality improvement and monitor compliance with Department of Drug and Alcohol Program Licensure and all other State, County and regulatory and funding requirements.

+ Recommend updates to Program Manual and other policies and procedures.

+ Models and supports clients and staff in health and wellness activities and with using healthy coping skills.

Therapist Responsibilities:

+ Conduct screening and assessments, utilizing ASAM criteria, to determine the appropriate level of care.  Based on the assessments, refer clients to the appropriate treatment programs and agencies.

+ Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, which drive treatment planning.

+ Together with clients, help to identify needs and develop individualized treatment plans that reflect client’s goals and objectives.  Review and update Treatment Plans as necessary.

+ Provide individual and group therapy.

+ Provide family education and counseling.

+ Provide substance use and mental health education and facilitate psycho-educational groups as needed.

+ Work with the program psychiatrist and external prescribers to ensure that clients’ behavioral health needs are being addressed and help to facilitate and integrate the psychiatrist/doctor recommendations.

+ As a member of the treatment team, using a strength-based and trauma-informed approach, works collaboratively with the clients and other treatment team members (internal and external) to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.

+ Be knowledgeable about and remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards; including, for example, all of POWER’s policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan, DDAP requirements, State Licensing standards, County Monitoring requirements, and managed care regulations.

+ Complete all paperwork within required timeframes and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records.

+ Participate in all staff development and training as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Master's degree in counseling, Social Work or related field, and a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a human service setting; OR bachelor's degree in counseling, Social Work or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a human services setting; or combination of comparable skills, experience and education.

+ LSW/LCSW/LPC licensure preferred, full PCB certification (CADC, CCS, CAADC) is also acceptable.

+ Act 73, 33 and 34 Clearances

+ Valid PA Driver’s license and driving record in good standing

+ Highly proficient with technology including Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint navigation, and the capability to competently navigate the Client Health Record (EMR).

+ Experience in a women-centered treatment environment or with gender-responsive care preferred.

+ Personal recovery experience is not required; however, knowledge of recovery support systems and 12-Step programs preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

+ Experience with trauma-informed services, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapies, including DBT, preferred.

+ Understands and supports a trauma-informed system of care

+ Effective interpersonal and engagement skills.

+ Self-directed and flexible to meet the needs of staff, clients and management.

+ Strong organizational and time-management skills.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical and Work Requirements:

+ Ability to work in POWER’s various program sites and offices.

+ Ability to work the hours necessary to complete the work as an exempt role

+ Ability to climb stairs and lift light boxes under <20 lbs.

+ Ability to take on-call as needed.
