    Convergentz a division of the Hunton Group, is seeking to hire a Security & Low Voltage (SLV) Field Superintendent. The Superintendent will oversee all field operations for low-voltage and electronic security system installations for Convergentz. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with industry standards, codes, and customer expectations. The Field Superintendent provides hands-on technical leadership, supervises field personnel, coordinates closely with project managers and stakeholders, and upholds the highest levels of quality and safety across all job sites.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Project & Field Management

     

    + Oversee daily field operations for low-voltage and security system installations, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, networking, AV, structured cabling, and fire alarm (if applicable).

    + Plan, schedule, and coordinate labor, subcontractors, materials, tools, and equipment to meet project milestones.

    + Conduct job walks to assess site readiness, verify installation progress, and proactively resolve field issues.

    + Ensure installations comply with project drawings, specifications, codes, and customer standards.

    + Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide constructability and field input to engineering and project management teams.

     

    Team Leadership

     

    + Supervise, coach, and mentor technicians and installers to promote productivity, quality, and professional growth.

    + Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure proper installation methods and workmanship.

    + Deliver on-site training related to tools, systems, safety procedures, and best practices.

    + Address performance concerns and provide staffing recommendations as needed.

     

    Quality Control

     

    + Perform inspections to verify proper cable routing, labeling, terminations, device placement, and overall system functionality.

    + Review and approve testing results, as-built drawings, redlines, and closeout documentation.

    + Ensure all work meets NEC, NFPA, manufacturer specifications, and applicable local code requirements.

     

    Safety & Compliance

     

    + Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations across all job sites.

    + Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses.

    + Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and tools.

     

    Customer & Stakeholder Communication

     

    + Serve as the primary field point of contact for customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.

    + Communicate project progress, schedule impacts, change orders, and field constraints in a timely and professional manner.

    + Build and maintain strong working relationships to support customer satisfaction and repeat business.

     

    Technical Expertise

     

    + Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cabling, connectivity, device configuration, and system performance.

    + Oversee installation and integration of:

    + Access control systems (controllers, readers, door hardware, electrified locking devices)

    + CCTV and IP video surveillance systems

    + Intrusion detection systems

    + Fiber optic and copper structured cabling systems

    + Network racks, patch panels, cable management, and grounding

    + Identify design conflicts or inefficiencies and provide field-driven recommendations for resolution.

     

    Documentation & Reporting

     

    + Maintain accurate daily field reports, time sheets, and project logs.

    + Track material usage, inventory needs, back orders, and delivery schedules.

    + Support project managers with punch-list completion, as-builts, redlines, and project closeout packages.

    Qualifications:

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in low-voltage systems, security systems, structured cabling, or a related field.

    + At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory, lead technician, or foreman role.

    + Strong working knowledge of low-voltage codes, installation standards, and industry best practices.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, schedules, and technical drawings.

    + Proficiency with testing and diagnostic equipment (e.g., cable certifiers, multimeters).

    + Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites.

    Preferred:

    + Industry certifications such as BICSI, NICET, OSHA 30, or manufacturer certifications (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Axis, HID).

    + Experience working in commercial construction environments and coordinating with general contractors.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and crews simultaneously.

    + Ability to climb ladders and operate lifts or scaffolding.

    + Ability to work in active construction environments with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.

    + Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
