Summary:
The Director of Plant Operations is to be a key communicator and representative of the manufacturing plants to present our company in the most strategic and proactive ways externally to community and government and internally to our employee. In addition, this individual will be expected to cultivate safe, productive organization culture that enhances and motivates internal and external customers and leaderships.
Responsibilities:
External Affairs:
+ Be a key representative of the plant and company to local, state officials and communities.
+ Serve as a spokesperson for the company to represent the plant and communicate on behalf of executive leadership direction.
+ Able to formulate and articulate proactive and reactive communication strategy for any company news.
+ Participated in strategy meetings and share knowledge with NA EAGR Department and Communication Teams to represent the company externally.
Corporate Affairs:
+ Oversee the short & long-term planning and initiatives geared towards enhanced operations and provide employee services and support through Corporate Affairs team.
+ Direct, implement and monitor daily operations, employee services, maintenance and facility management with the Corporate Affairs Team Leader.
+ Understand and execute best plans for facilities management and vendor management related to dining service and janitorial service and signage.
+ Comprehend global mobility management for FSEs(expats) within the plants.
+ Corporate lease vehicle management/ corporate cell phone management
+ Business traveler management and visa status (B1, ESTA, L1 and others)
Production Innovation:
+ Manage and operate in Lean Six Sigma by conducting regular process audits and control reviews.
+ Practice and embody Define, Measure, Analyze and Improve and Control mindset within the organization to encourage a continuous improvement culture.
+ Optimize production process by eliminating wastes and other constraints to improve work efficiency.
+ Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
+ Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
+ Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
EH&S:
+ Receive Dual report from EH&S Team in coordination with NA EH& S Department and collaborate with health/safety managers to develop and implement safety policies for general plant operation
+ Safety, Compliance and Coordination: Ensure strict adherence to OSHA, state, federal, and company regulations and maintain high competence in employee safety, facility housekeeping, sanitation, security, and safety.
+ Oversee one or more plant-wide safety, health and/or environmental programs and develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
+ Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership in regards to the any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any EH&S related policies/regulations observed from daily line walks of the plants
+ Drives a strong and health safety culture that is compliant with regulations and engages employees to effectively decrease injury rate.
Employee/ Labor Relations:
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive labor relations strategy to maintain pro-employer environment and promote positive employee relations.
+ Foster open communication and cooperate labor management relationships to minimize disruptions and support a positive work environment.
+ Guide the translation of the labor relations strategy to various lines of business and ensure alignment with business strategies
+ Train and develop future leaders and team members for success in the team’s goals and for future opportunities
+ Provide timely feedback on performance and maintain an environment that encourages initiative, creative thinking, and self-motivation
+ Receive dual report from Employee relations part within HR. For ER related topics, expected to partner with HR and Legal Team in Employee Relations as a core contributor, overseeing the implementation of a core strategy, process and execution of investigations of grievances and employee issues including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, policy violations and general performance concerns.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree required in industrial engineering or related field.
+ MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
+ 10 to 15+ years of experience in operation management in a manufacturing plant setting.
+ 7 to 10+ years of experience leading and managing multiple processes
+ Minimum of 7 years of experience in employee relations, labor relations experience preferred.
+ Prior experience in roles supporting hourly field or frontline team member organizations preferred.
Skills:
+ Strong interest in automotive industry and basic understanding of manufacturing process
+ Excellent communication and negotiation skills; both written and oral; experienced communicating with all levels of an organization across multiple geographies
+ High attention to detail and willingness to engage in manual work if needed, such as inventory verification preferred
+ Ability to achieve goals under pressure and tight milestones
+ Proficient in MS Office Suite
+ Strong written and oral communication skill
+ Ability to work with cross-functional teams
+ Organized and decisive decision maker
+ Detail oriented and strong understanding of multiple metrics
+ Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support entire production team
+ Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support and work with HQ and global sites
