    Job Description

    **AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Coral Gables on January 15-16, 2026.** This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

    **The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer** where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

    **On Friday, interviews will take place at our Coral Gables office** . This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

    **AECOM** is actively seeking **Science Interns** for the **Spring 2026** or **Fall 2026** semesters for employment in our **Florida office locations** , which include **Coral Gables** , **Fort Lauderdale** , **Orlando** , and **Tampa** offices. We will also consider exceptional candidates in other AECOM locations in the Southeast United States. Internships will run for three months, either February through April 2026 or October through 2026. The successful candidate will be pursuing a degree in a relevant field of study such as environmental science, biology, Geographic Information Systems, environmental compliance/regulations, or other relevant science-related degree. The internship position will involve interdisciplinary collaboration, office, and field-based project work, and both in-person and virtual (telework) work environments. This position provides an opportunity to gather valuable on the job training, aid in future career planning and opportunities, and work with a team of highly skilled professionals within multiple disciplines. Work experiences will be focused on projects and environmental tasks in transportation, ports, natural gas, electric utilities, and site development/redevelopment, as well as other environmental focus areas.

     

    The internship position is part of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team in the Southeast United States. The ideal candidate will need to thrive in a challenging environment, exhibit critical thinking and independent thinking skills, be flexible on schedules (including travel) to meet training and project deadlines, participate in meetings and trainings as part of AECOM’s internship experience, and be open to collaborating with different teams to gain different experience opportunities within our Environment business line.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    + Working with the AECOM ecological team to become familiar with our field survey equipment, data forms and other data collection and reporting tools.

    + Assisting AECOM ecological teams in performing wetland, wildlife habitat assessments, and other ecological field surveys.

    + Assisting AECOM ecological teams with writing and developing field data sheets and reports.

    + Assisting with coordination of various governmental agencies regarding ecological survey protocols, reporting standards, or endangered and threatened species coordination.

    + Creating field maps and report mapping through Geographic Information System (GIS) programs, specifically ESRI software.

    + Reviewing desktop information to complete environmental impact assessments.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, GIS, or another related field and must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

    + Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. Interns will be accompanied by AECOM team members. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Be able to work independently or in a team environment, both in-person and virtually.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + GIS software experience is preferred but not required for this position. AECOM utilizes ESRI based software including ArcPro and ArcMap.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).

    Additional Information

    + Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

    + Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

    + This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work. The selected candidate must be able to commute to the respective AECOM office at least three days per week.

    + Internships will not exceed a 3-month period of employment.

     

    Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $19.57 to $23.
