Job Description
Primary Hall Preparatory Charter School (PHPCS) was founded to provide the students and families on the East Side of Buffalo access to quality education. At the core of our mission is the inclusion of individualized support for all students. Our school provides tailored foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and character development that will equip all of our students for academic and personal success throughout their educational careers and beyond.
Job Summary
Primary Hall is currently seeking an Enrichment Teacher. An Enrichment Teacher with Primary Hall is responsible for instructing students in a non-core academic class that provides instruction in the arts, technology, or a variety of other subjects and areas of study. Previous enrichment experiences that our students have had include:

+ Karate, other martial arts
+ Music Appreciation, African Drumming and Dance

This role involves creating a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the New York State Standards (where applicable); organizing and directing grade-level projects and exhibitions at school events; and fostering meaningful, hands-on engagement with the content. Enrichment Teachers play a vital role in creating spaces where students can learn new skills outside of core academics, find ways to express themselves authentically and creatively, and to gain experience with skills and interest areas that they may not get a chance to experience in their daily life.
You are charged with helping grow the school's curriculum, developing innovative instructional techniques, and accelerating learning for students so they are prepared for college-preparatory curricula. With a team of like-minded educators, including Instructional Coaches, you will be supported in providing high-quality instruction and in growing as a teacher and leader.

Essential Job Functions
+ Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
+ Develop lesson plans aligned to NYS standards.
+ Plan and sequence lessons to progressively build students' skills in the chosen area of study.
+ Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with educational standards and the school's goals.
+ Plan and organize lessons to cover various aspects of the chosen area of study, including history, implementation.
+ Teach knowledge and skills in the chosen area of study.
+ Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students of different skill levels and interests.
+ Provide for the care and protection of school property.
+ Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
+ Prepare classroom for class activities.
+ Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
+ Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
+ Plan, organize, and coordinate performances or demonstrations at school events.
+ Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to plan and successfully execute events.
+ Use relevant technology to support instruction.
+ Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
+ Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as appropriate.
+ Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
+ Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
+ Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules and procedures and enforcing classroom, school rules and procedures.
+ Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
+ Implements techniques in the classroom that have been learned during coaching meetings, Professional Development sessions, or in-the-moment feedback opportunities.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience
+ Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree at the time of employment (minimum average GPA of 2.75)
+ New York State teaching certification or licensure.
+ 2 years teaching in an urban public school (traditional or charter) preferred but not required
+ Previous music teaching experience is preferred.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work with students of different ages and skill levels.
+ Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for music education.

Classroom and Office setting, the noise level in the work environment(s) is relatively quiet.
Cognitive and Physical Demands
+ Daily/consistent: Standing, sitting, computer work, screen time, keyboarding, typing, wrist flexing/extension, and other repetitive movements and lifting (up to 20 pounds).
+ Daily/consistent: Use of professional judgement in alignment with Primary Hall values and policies, ability to communicate effectively verbally and written, and to complete projects with minimal assistance and supervision.
