    Works directly with individuals with developmental disabilities by conducting group and individual recreation activities according to individual needs, capabilities, and interests.

     

    Full-Time

     

    $16/hr

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:

    + Works directly with individuals with developmental disabilities by conducting group and individual recreation activities according to individual needs, capabilities, and interests.

    + Determines and implements necessary precautions in exercising responsibility for the care and safety of individuals served.

    + Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to identify and implement meaningful group activities with focus on emphasizing the preferences of individuals served.

    + Provides instruction and guidance to staff regarding activity delivery methods and techniques daily as well as at staff meetings.

    + Maintains and continuously amends curriculum binders for each classroom to ensure that varied and age appropriate activities are planned and conducted for individuals served.

    + Attends continuing education courses as required.

    + Performs other related duties and activities as required.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    None required.

     

    Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job

     

    _The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:_

    _Education and Experience:_

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Two years’ experience working with developmentally disabled adults including planning and conducting activities for this population

    _Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:_

    + Valid driver’s license in good standing

    + Car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services

    + All state required training and certification completed in mandated timeframes

    + Certification in Activity Coordinator preferred

    _Other Skills and Abilities:_

    + N/A

    _Other Requirements:_

    + Travel as needed

    _Physical Requirements:_

    + **Heavy work.** Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
