Summary:

Meta is seeking Research Scientists to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization, focused on making significant advances in AI. The team is focused on industrial leading research on building new architectures and training paradigms to push the frontier of advanced machine intelligence. Individuals in this role are expected to be recognized experts in identified research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational statistics, and applied mathematics. Researchers will drive impact by: (1) publishing state-of-the-art research papers, (2) open sourcing high quality code and reproducible results for the community, and (3) bringing the latest research to Meta products for connecting billions of users. They will work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners, and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and research facilities.

Required Skills:

Foundational AI Research Scientist - FAIR Responsibilities:

1. Perform research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, video, text, audio, and other modalities)

2. Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines

3. Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones

4. Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications

5. Open source high quality code and produce reproducible research

Minimum Qualifications:

6. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

7. A PhD in AI, computer science, data science, or related technical fields

8. First-authored publications at peer-reviewed conferences, such as ICML, NeuRIPS, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, and other similar venues, reflecting experience in LLM pretraining

9. 1+ years experience holding an industry, postdoctoral, faculty, or government researcher position

10. Research background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational statistics, applied mathematics, or related areas

11. Experience in developing and debugging in Python or similar programming languages

12. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

13. Research and engineering experience demonstrated via publications, grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, open source code, and / or coding competitions

14. Experience collaborating in a team environment on research projects

Public Compensation:

$147,000/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
