    UW Continuum College has an exciting opportunity for Senior Director of Information Technology!

     

    About the position

     

    Continuum is embarking on an ambitious process and technology transformation that will radically redefine our ability to reach and enable learners across Washington and beyond to access the educational attainment they need to thrive. At the center of this transformation is the implementation and support of a range of new student-facing and back-end systems. The position leads three distinct technology functions for Continuum College, including software and application development, network and systems administration, and technology support and services. The team currently has three managers and 15 total positions.

     

    This position manages Continuum’s Information Technology department’s provision of outstanding computing support for an office of nearly 200 employees across a range of platforms. The individual in this role will also regularly coordinate with central UW IT on major university technology initiatives and serve as an advocate for Continuum and its learners.

    Functional Responsibilities

    Own Continuum’s technology and digital transformation effort, including identification of new, and evolvement of existing, internal and third-party software and application systems.

     

    + Partner with UWInformation Security to ensure Continuum’s data governance, security, and privacy practices are compliant with university requirements.

    + Contribute to strategic planning, in conjunction with UW IT, that balances localized, rapidly evolving Continuum needs with the longer-term university technology roadmap.

    + Uphold and strengthen the culture of service in the provision of effective IT solutions across a range of platforms.

    + Lead Continuum’s technology-driven business continuity and disaster recovery planning and local cybersecurity efforts.

    + Create and track technology budgets and report on cost of system ownership.

    + Supervisory Responsibilities

    + Manage 4-5 team leads (e.g., software and application development, network and systems administration, and technology support and services.)

    + Hire, onboard, mentor staff, provide opportunities for continued learning and skill development to excel in current responsibilities and take on new challenges.

     

    Qualifications and Skills

     

    We welcome a range of personal and professional experiences; however, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below and demonstrate relevant experience in most of the responsibilities listed above.

    Required qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and;

    + At least six years of progressively responsible experience in the following:

    + Directing software or application development efforts

    + Negotiating, reviewing, and executing technology contracts

    + Managing software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers

    + Working within organizations subject to regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA)

     

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $160,008.00 annual

    $175,008.00 annual
