The Job
Assistant Editors balance the requirements of a fast-paced, daily news cycle with the post-production needs of Premium VOD, Original Series, and Documentaries. The job requires an intimate familiarity with broadcast and digital specifications, including video/audio file formats and codecs. Technical expertise in a post-production environment is necessary to execute production workflows and troubleshoot issues. A keen editorial eye and the ability to work independently are required to provide high-level quality control during both day-to-day content operations and in breaking news scenarios.
The Daily
Edit Prep & Edit Support
• File-Based conversion & ingest of physical media to shared server
• Non-Linear Editing project organization
• Video/Audio syncing of multi-camera scenes
• Assembling a string out & building a radio cut
• Music searching
• Addressing producer notes, including shot changes & font fixes
• Building credits
• Rendering & creating screeners
Prep for Online & Archive
• Collapsing video tracks
• Organizing audio tracks
• Outputting & delivering
• Media managing multiple shared-servers for news & long-form
• Archiving long-form projects via Media Asset Management, cloud-based systems
The Essentials
• Knowledge of VDI and cloud-based workflows.
• Skills to conceptualize, execute and distribute post-production workflows, including quality control, ingest, edit, delivery, archive and media management.
• Technical expertise in current and emerging post-production trends with a keen interest in continuing education in this area.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving with the ability to work-around and/or fix time-sensitive technical issues.
• Ability to manage time, multi-task, and prioritize appropriately in a breaking news environment.
• Effectively communicate to provide exceptional customer service to business partners.
• Flexible with schedule and availability

• Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere, Media Encoder, Photoshop and Audition
• Conversion software, including Handbrake
• Media Asset Management systems, including Iconik
• Content Delivery / Sharing systems, including Aspera on Cloud
• Hedge Offshoot
• Zoom

The Nice to Haves
• Passion for leadership and the professional development of others.
• Basic skill level in After Effects and DaVinci Resolve
• Basic color correction and audio mixing skills
• Ability to edit horizontal and vertical short-form videos
• Experience delivering content and monitoring workflows for distribution to multiple partners and platforms

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $61,152.00 - $113,568.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
