**Objective of Position** :
The Data Governance Program Manager leads the planning, development, and execution of a comprehensive, multi-year Data Governance Program. This role oversees the enterprise data governance framework, elevating data maturity, integrity, and value realization. The Program Manager ensures data is managed as a strategic asset, enabling regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making. The role coordinates cross-functional teams across IT, Risk & Compliance, Information Security, Finance, and business domains to deliver an integrated ecosystem of people, processes, and technology for trusted and governed data. This is a hybrid remote and office role, office work is in Schaumburg, IL.
Duties and Responsibilities** **:
Program Management & Leadership
+ Lead and manage the bank’s data governance program, including developing, maintaining and enforcing the framework, policies, standards & best practices, and procedures.
+ Develop and maintain program charters, integrated roadmaps, and dependency maps.
+ Manage budgets, timelines, milestones, and performance metrics.
+ Report program progress, outcomes, and escalations to leadership and executive sponsors.
+ Define and track KPIs for data governance effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement
+ Collaborate with business units, IT, compliance, and risk teams to align data governance initiatives with strategic goals.
+ Implement the Data Governance Operating Model, including staffing enterprise DG teams (policy, enablement, operations, stewardship).
+ Establish and support the Data Governance Council and Working Groups, ensuring effective coordination of deliverables, communications, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
+ Oversee deployment of data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica) for cataloging, glossary, lineage, and quality.
+ Establish data quality monitoring and remediation workflows, focusing on data supporting critical KPIs and metrics.
+ Partner with data owners and stewards to operationalize stewardship and accountability.
+ Define and track KPIs measuring DG control adoption (e.g., EDM Council CDMC controls).
Data Stewardship & Analytics
+ Establish and support data stewardship roles across departments to ensure accountability for data quality and integrity.
+ Lead efforts to identify, escalate, and resolve data quality and governance issues.
+ Develop and oversee robust processes for metadata management, data lineage tracking, data cataloging, and data cleansing, ensuring all activities are thoroughly documented and support data accuracy, consistency, and transparency across the organization.
+ Partner with business owners to define metric ownership and lineage traceability to source systems.
+ Identify and decommission duplicate or conflicting metrics and assets.
+ Lead inventory and rationalization of enterprise metrics, reports, and dashboards.
+ Maintain a governed Enterprise Metrics Glossary with version control and change processes.
+ Coordinate with Business Intelligence teams to ensure analytics outputs align with certified, governed data sources.
Master Data Management (MDM)
+ Manage delivery of the Customer MDM solution, from tool selection through implementation and go-live.
+ Define and oversee data mastering, match/merge, golden record creation, and stewardship workflows.
+ Ensure MDM outputs directly support enterprise KPIs and analytical use cases.
+ Establish MDM operations, including governance integration, change control, and stewardship practices.
Risk Management, Policy and Compliance:
+ Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR, CCPA, FFIEC).
+ Establish best practices and provide oversight for the implementation and monitoring of data classification, data loss prevention, and the management of the data lifecycle, including archiving, retention, purging, and backups, across the organization.
+ Ensure that all data platforms and source systems consistently comply with privacy, security, and data quality standards, maintaining robust safeguards and adherence to regulatory requirements throughout the organization.
+ Conduct regular data profiling across all banking applications to assess data quality and integrity, ensuring clear identification of data owners and assignment of roles and responsibilities for each data asset.
+ Align governance processes with metadata-driven lineage, access controls, and policy enforcement to maintain robust data stewardship and compliance.

**Qualifications** :
+ Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Business, or related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in running data governance programs or related roles in banking or financial services.
+ Strong understanding of IT and data governance frameworks, principles and standards like DAMA-DMBOK, EDM Council CDMC, COBIT, etc.
+ Familiarity with regulatory requirements impacting data (e.g., Basel III, GDPR, CCAR).
+ Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Proficient in documentation using tools like Visio for diagrams and process flows.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management and financial skills.
+ Related certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, CDMP) are a plus.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.

This role allows for a combination of remote and in-office work, with occasional visits to the office based on business needs. Specific in-office days may vary and will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation & Benefits:
Byline Bank offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.
The salary range for this position is between $130,000 to $162,000.
In addition, Byline provides benefits including medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, paid time off and much more! Depending on the specific role, compensation may also include discretionary bonuses and other benefit programs. The actual compensation package may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience level, and candidate's location.
