Job Title: Onsite DOT Delivery Driver Position Profile
The Onsite DOT Delivery Driver is responsible for the quality delivery, pickup, and relocation of customer packages and mail in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with customer requirements. This position requires full compliance with Federal DOT regulations and adherence to all Delivery Safety Standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and purchase order (PO) processing
Load and secure packages and mail safely in boxed vans or trucks
Pick up mail and packages from designated customer pickup locations
Deliver mail and packages to correct delivery points
Maintain logbooks in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual)
Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and compliant with DOT and state regulations
Participate in company safety programs and initiatives
Pre-call customers when applicable
Provide strong customer service and maintain professional interactions
Identify customer needs and take appropriate action, referring issues when necessary
Maintain professional dress and appearance per site dress code
Ensure all paperwork is accurately completed and properly processed
Load and off-load trucks as required
Follow all accident and incident reporting guidelines and procedures
Meet productivity and quality standards as outlined by management
Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks (certification may be required)
Lift and handle items weighing up to **50 pounds**
Assist with backup training for new delivery drivers on current routes
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
Required:
Safe driving record and history
Eligibility to operate a commercial vehicle in accordance with FMCSR regulations
Valid driver’s license maintained in accordance with company policy
Successful completion of a road test
Valid and current medical card
Minimum age of 20 years and properly licensed in state of residence
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), if required per state regulations
Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to physically handle oversized and overweight packages
Ability to identify at-risk behaviors and make quick corrective actions
Strong customer presentation and communication skills
Familiarity with smartphones, tablets, and handheld electronic technology
Adequate reading, math, and written communication skills
Ability to obtain certification for operating warehouse equipment (forklift, stair climber, pallet jack, etc.), if required
Working Conditions, Mental, and Physical Demands
Working conditions may present risk of injury if proper lifting techniques and road safety rules are not followed
Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling to service equipment at floor level
Regular lifting of mail and packages weighing up to **50 pounds**
Ability to interpret, comprehend, and apply complex instructions, data, and materials
Work environment may include office, warehouse, and van/truck settings with normal lighting, ventilation, temperature, and noise levels
Ability to work independently
