    Robert Half Finance & Accounting (Atlantic Beach, FL)


    Description

    Join a growing, fast-paced general contracting organization. This is a hands-on role requiring extensive knowledge of construction accounting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to support a scaling operation.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Oversee all accounting operations for a construction-based business

    + Manage accounts receivable, including progress billings, contract terms, aging, and collections

    + Supervise vendor and subcontractor payments and ensure proper lien waiver compliance

    + Monitor daily cash balances and financial controls

    + Review and oversee weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees

    + Prepare and review monthly financial statements and review results with ownership

    + Manage job cost reporting, work-in-progress (WIP), and construction schedules

    + Create and manage budgets; monitor financial performance against forecasts

    + Supervise and mentor a small accounting team (2 direct reports)

    + Partner with project managers, ownership, bankers, and bonding companies as needed

    + Assist with business insurance, risk management, and employee benefits programs

    + Participate in strategic planning, financial projections, and growth initiatives

    + Perform special projects as assigned by ownership and advisory leadership

    Requirements

    + 5+ years of experience as a Controller in a small to mid-size general contracting environment

    + Strong knowledge of construction accounting and billing practices

    + Experience with AIA documents, G702/G703 applications, and Florida lien law

    + Familiarity with construction accounting software (Foundation preferred)

    + Proven leadership experience with hands-on involvement

    + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
