Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this role, you will handle essential accounting functions such as preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and managing fixed assets. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to month-end and year-end closings while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts to support accurate financial reporting.
• Manage monthly and year-end closings, ensuring timely completion of all tasks.
• Conduct detailed bank reconciliations and general ledger reviews.
• Maintain and update the fixed asset ledger, including depreciation schedules and reconciliations.
• Complete balance sheet and income statement analyses to provide insights for management reporting.
• Assist with financial close processes, including preparation of monthly and quarterly reports.
• Perform comprehensive month-end balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and meet critical deadlines. Requirements • Proficiency in Excel and the ability to work with complex spreadsheets.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Effective organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to meet strict business-critical deadlines efficiently and reliably.
• Experience with sales tax, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
• Familiarity with Great Plains Accounting software.
• Knowledge of Form 1099 preparation and related processes.
