Insight Global is seeking a Simulation Systems Engineer to support a federal client part-time in Suffolk, VA. The Systems Engineer must have a strong Modeling and Simulation (M&S) background. This person will support the client with remote work and occasional visits to the customer’s Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex.
The successful candidate will provide direct support to the government customer, leveraging deep expertise in JLVC Federation M&S systems to create comprehensive MBSE models. You will be a key driver of innovation, using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and subject matter expertise to conceive and develop rapid M&S prototype solutions that further the modernization and standardization of JLVC training capabilities across the Department of War (DoW). This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of architecting and integrating complex systems to solve critical warfighter challenges.
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Conduct in-depth research to create and maintain a comprehensive MBSE model of the JLVC Federation, defining its architecture, tracking testing, and enabling more rapid and reliable federation iterations.
• Lead efforts to capture, build, and track JLVC Modernization requirements, supporting the metrics team to ensure progress aligns with strategic goals.
• Collaborate with the JLVC Modernization engineering and development teams to design and conceive rapid prototypes of cutting-edge capabilities.
• Serve as a primary consultant on JSJ7 requirements for next generation wargaming tools, including the integration of the Army's NEXGEN Constructive (NGC) simulation capabilities.
• Support the requirements definition, development, and testing for the MAVEN Smart System JLVC data layer and the JTT application.
• Provide strategic consulting on the implementation of generative AI capabilities into training frameworks to accelerate work production and enhance collaboration.
• Travel quarterly to Suffolk, VA (if remote) and to M&S technology partner sites as required to facilitate collaboration and program success.
$59/hr to $62/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements
• 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 6 years relevant experience with PhD; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 15 years relevant experience.
• Position requires significant, distinguished experience in leading complex M&S initiatives and integrating advanced technologies within demanding DoD environments.
• Extensive experience in building M&S architectures, including constructive, live, and hardware-in-the-loop systems, for large-scale, distributed training environments.
• Deep knowledge of M&S standards, including DIS/HLA simulation protocols and integration.
• Proven ability to translate operational user requirements into actionable technical features and lead cross-functional development teams.
• Active Secret security clearance. · Master of Science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Modeling, Virtual Environments, & Simulation (or a related field).
• Recent, direct experience with the Joint Staff’s ELITE CONSTELLATION exercise construct (planning and execution) and its associated M&S architectures.
• Demonstrated experience architecting and integrating unifying frameworks from previously incompatible models, tools, and databases.
• Prior hands-on experience developing and contributing to AI/ML adoption plans and integrating generative AI capabilities.
• Working knowledge of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or React for rapid prototyping and API integration.
• Experience in planning, analyzing, and/or executing military CONOPS and TTPs.
