    Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. We offer a team oriented environment comprised of military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and volunteers who keep the organization functioning smoothly and effectively. Responsibilities Responsible for distributing and assigning work orders and projects to your personnel within specified time requirements. Responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed. Review work in progress and on completion. Suggest ways or methods to improve operation or reduce cost. Motivate employees and encourage training, advancement and continued education. Responsible for training subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safe practices, operations of new equipment, safety regulations, and other regulations and policies established by the federal government. Prepares work performance appraisals, approves time and approves or disapproves leave, counsels employees and recommends disciplinary action when necessary. Recommends new equipment and tools, relocation of equipment, and safer more efficient and economical work methods and procedures. Using accepted trade methods, and techniques, supervise the work involving a wide variety of duties of a journeyman involving installation, modification, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and testing of complex electrical systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, control, components, lighting fixtures and fire alarm systems. This also includes emergency and optional diesel engines operated auxiliary power generating systems. Plans and completes work assignments from initial layout to final assembly. Reads, interprets and applies building plans, blueprints, specifications, sketches, and building codes. Install, modify, repair, loads and test systems and circuits. Computes measurements and makes adjustments to incomplete blueprints and sketches. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with Return-to-Work program initiatives and following up on employee wellbeing. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A minimum of three years of related experience is preferred. Must have specialized experience working at the Journeyman level of the Electrical trade. Must have the ability to use hand and power tool. Must possess knowledge of advance shop mathematics and have the ability to recognize quality work, to read, interpret and apply building plans, specifications, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, and building codes. Troubleshooting of major electrical distribution systems and loading and testing new and existing lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment, such as secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase and frequency requirement to distribution panels, switch gear, power and control circuits, electrical warning, detection, and fire alarm systems, and high intensity lighting systems. Repair electronic ballast, electronic dimmer panels, automatic transfer switches. Must have some knowledge of the Uniform Building Code and have the ability to apply supervisory methods and techniques. Must have the ability to plan, organize and be able to learn command policies and directives as related to the operation. Will develop or re-establish priorities, move personnel to meet deadlines. California drivers license is required.
