Position Description
Crew Leader (Liquid Terminal)
Responsible for leading 24/7 operations at a marine liquid Terminal, including day and night shift rotations. Terminal operations include unloading and loading of refined fuels and chemicals to or from storage tanks, railcars, vessels, barges, and trucks. Crew Leader will be the primary trainer and mentor for anywhere from 4 to 12 Operators on shift.
Position Requirements
Perform job functions as necessary to safely and efficiently transfer refined fuels and chemicals.
Lead daily operations, including day and night shift rotations
Implement Safety, Quality, and Environmental initiatives in the field
Provide mentorship and primary trainer for operators on shift
Manage the operator work schedule
Participate in Incident Investigations and employee disciplinary reviews/corrective actions
Track vessels and customer orders to understand daily operational movements and forecast staffing needs
Line-up movements
Load and unload railcars, tank trucks, ships, and barges
Sample and gauge product in tanks
Obtain and record product temperatures and levels in storage tanks
Assist Customer Service Team and Operations Manager for determining Product Movement Orders to meet Customer’s nominations
Perform Safety Observations in the field
Assist with annual procedure reviews and routine procedure audits
Perform all work in strict accordance with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures
Perform all work in strict accordance with operating policies, procedures, checklists and written instructions.
Climb tank stairs and railcar stairs, operate valves and pumps, gauge tanks
Upkeep of assigned equipment or tools.
Perform any other type of terminal function as trained and as instructed by the supervisor.
Open and close 2" to 16" valves by hand
Ascend and descend ladders and stairs to perform various operations duties
Perform miscellaneous clean-up activities, e.g. collect trash, empty barrels, sweep, mop floors, etc.
