Special Education Teacher – Markham, IL

K–5 • Self-Contained • Para Support

Hours: 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM • Start ASAP – End of School Year

Markham, IL is looking for a passionate, student-focused Special Education Teacher ready to make a big impact in a supportive school community. This role offers a self-contained classroom setting, strong collaboration, and para support to help you do what you do best—teach, inspire, and guide young learners.

What You’ll Do

+ Teach and support K–5 students in a self-contained special education classroom

+ Deliver individualized and small-group instruction

+ Partner closely with general education staff to support inclusion and student success

+ Implement IEPs with care, consistency, and creativity

+ Maintain a structured, positive, and engaging learning environment

+ Provide specialized instruction, academic interventions, and daily support strategies

What You Bring

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)

+ Valid state teaching certificate

+ LBS1 endorsement preferred

+ Experience in a teaching environment (1+ year preferred)

+ Commitment to professional standards and student growth

+ CPR certification, TB/PPD, and health requirements (as applicable)

+ Meets all federal, state, and local compliance requirements

+ Must be at least 18 years old
