Medical Associates is hiring a full-time Physical Therapist to join their team, working in the occupational health and worker's compensation program at Tri-State Occupational Health.
Company Overview:
**Tri-State Occupational Health** is a joint venture between Medical Associates Clinic and Mercy Medical Center that provides Occupational Health services to the Tri-State area. The TSOH provider team includes a Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Physical Therapist and Physical Therapy Assistant. This team operates on the Musculoskeletal floor of Medical Associates Clinic in Dubuque, IA, along with our Physical and Occupational Therapy, Orthopedics, Physical Medicine and Podiatry Departments, allowing for excellent collaboration in the delivery of outstanding patient care.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a **specialized Physical Therapist to lead our Occupational Health and Workers’ Compensation program.** You will provide expert rehabilitative care for work-related injuries, focusing on safe, efficient return-to-work (RTW) outcomes. This role bridges clinical treatment with industrial needs through job-specific functional training and employer collaboration.
**Schedule:** 80 hours per pay period, 5 days/week with full benefits. Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7:30-5:00, Tuesday/Thursday 7:30-1:00.
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Specialized Evaluations:** Perform post-offer testing- Work Capacity Evaluations (WCE), Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), and Job Site Analyses/Ergonomic Assessments to objectively measure job readiness.
+ **Industrial Rehabilitation:** Evaluate patients with work-related injuries and develop rehabilitation programs for recovery as part of the post-injury care team together with physicians and other APPs.Design customized treatment plans that mimic specific job demands, such as lifting, climbing, and repetitive tasks. Develop/implement work hardening/work conditioning programs.
+ **Employer Services:** Conduct onsite ergonomic risk assessments, job analyses, and injury prevention training to mitigate workplace hazards.
+ **Case Management:** Maintain consistent communication with physicians, insurance adjusters, and nurse case managers regarding patient progress and work restrictions.
+ **Compliance:** Ensure all documentation meets strict medical, legal, and workers’ compensation reimbursement requirements.

Qualifications
+ **Education:** Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (DPT preferred for 2025).
+ **Licensure:** Active state license to practice Physical Therapy.
+ **Occupational Medicine experience** highly preferred, but not required
Physical Aspects:
Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Feeling - Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discrimination in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction. in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds force constantly to move objects.
Subject to Physical Hazards - Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
