Job Title: Sample Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Sample Coordinator to manage sample processes efficiently and effectively. This role involves working closely with scientists and project managers to ensure samples are received and transferred according to established SOPs and study protocols. The position requires independence, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with multiple functional groups to meet business needs.
+ Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely.
+ Plan and organize work with periodic supervision.
+ Work safely with biological matrices such as plasma, urine, blood, and CSF in a biohazard level 2 laboratory.
+ Log shipments and receive samples for clinical and/or toxicology trials according to priority and SOPs.
+ Document and maintain shipment, sample receipt, and condition records per SOP.
+ Notify the manager and sample owner of any abnormal receipt conditions.
+ Perform self and peer reviews of data for accuracy and compliance.
+ Maintain sample integrity and chain of custody and report concerns or failures promptly.
+ Ensure compliance with current SOPs and training.
+ Support QA audits and address QA findings appropriately.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in sample processing within a GLP regulated environment preferred.
+ Ability to work autonomously and develop solutions to improve operations.
+ Bachelor's degree, preferably in life sciences, or equivalent experience.
+ Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
+ Ability to apply GLPs independently.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
+ Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks and Laboratory Information Management Systems such as StarLIMS.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Effective time and project management skills.
+ Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
+ Strong organization, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
+ Previous experience comparable to 1 year.
+ Equivalency of education, training, and/or directly related experience may be considered.
Work Environment
The role is 100% onsite, Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour first shift. No weekends are required. The position has the potential to transition from temporary to permanent if it works out well. The start date is as soon as possible, with an initial duration of one year, subject to extension.

This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
