    The Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy exists to regulate the practices of alcohol and drug counseling and professional counseling in the State of Minnesota. Regulation of these professions is necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public when they receive mental health and substance use counseling services. The Board carries out its mission through effective licensure and enforcement of statutes and rules that ensure a standard of competent and ethical practice.

     

    Student Worker provides administrative and clerical support for the Board staff while gaining employment experience that will assist them in reaching identifiable educational goals. Work includes but is not limited to, scanning documents, filing documents, assisting with mailings, providing word processing support and preparing emails and other correspondence, entering data into licensing/regulatory databases, and performing other duties and tasks as assigned. The incumbent must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program.

     

    Upon entrance to the position, the successful incumbent will gain working knowledge of the Board's administrative policies, licensing program practices and procedures, and knowledge of the Minnesota Data Practices Act as it applies to information maintained by the Board.

     

    This temporary, part-time Student Worker position is anticipated to start as soon as possible. Working hours and days will be flexible around student's class schedule. The position's workdays are Monday through Friday generally during business hours (7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) in alignment with student availability.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Your resume must demonstrate the following experience/skills:

    + Skill in keyboarding/typing, using Microsoft Word of equivalent software, sufficient to produce memos and correspondence in an effective and timely manner

    + Skill in database management sufficient to sort or categorize information into existing databases according to established guidelines

    + Skill in data entry sufficient to compile, sort, and verify data accuracy before entering it

    + Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer's needs, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate customer satisfaction

    + Ability to understand information sufficient to maintain complex records, files, notes, and logs

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group of people

    + Experience evaluating documents for accuracy and completion

    + Experience interpreting data and extracting information as appropriate

    + Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook)

    + Ability to quickly learn licensing software such as ALIMS

    + Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships sufficient to collaborate with other health licensing board staff and external customers and represent the Board in a positive and respectful manner
