Alternative School/Online School Teacher/CoordinatorEast Sac Community Schools is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a full timeAlternative School/Online School Teacher/Coordinatorfor the2026-27 school year. Candidates must have a valid Iowa teaching license. Specific teaching endorsements are not required. The ideal candidate would have experience with at-risk students, be well versed in a variety of academic areas, and have proficient technology skills. This position is open until filled. Various coaching opportunities exist for the 26-27 school year as well!East County CSD is located in beautiful Northwest/North Central Iowa and comprised of Sac City, Lake View, Wall Lake, and Auburn. The 7-12 building is located in Lake View. Our communities offer many recreational areas including Black Hawk Lake along with several thriving small businesses and restaurants. We are located right south of Hwy 20 and are 1 hour from Sioux City, 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Okoboji Great Lakes, and two hours from Des Moines, Cedar Falls, and Omaha. The successful candidate will be supported by the HS Principal, an Assistant Principal, a mentoring program, the Superintendent, and the East Sac County Board of Education. Position SummaryThe Online/Alternative School Supervising Teacher supports students enrolled in online or alternative learningpathways by providing instructional guidance, academic monitoring, and individualized support. This positionserves as the primary point of contact for students and families, ensuring engagement, progress, andalignment with state and district standards. The Supervising Teacher collaborates with online course providers,school staff, and families to create a positive, flexible, and student-centered learning experience.Reports To: Online/Alternative School PrincipalLocation: FLEX Building - East Sac County CSDKey ResponsibilitiesStudent Support & Instruction? Serve as the certified teacher of record for students enrolled in online/alternative learning programs.? Monitor student progress, pacing, and performance across online courses.? Provide academic intervention, tutoring, and enrichment as needed.? Hold regular check-ins with students (virtual or in person) to support engagement, academic habits,and goal setting.? Assess student learning and ensure coursework meets district and state requirements.? Facilitate individualized learning plans for students requiring accelerated, credit-recovery, ornontraditional schedules.Family & School Communication? Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress, attendance, andsupport needs.? Serve as a liaison between the student, family, online course vendor(s), and school staff.? Participate in IEP, 504, MTSS, and other student support meetings as needed.Program Management? Track student attendance, participation, and completion data in accordance with district and stateguidelines.? Coordinate student enrollment in online courses and communicate with providers about studentneeds.? Support orientation for new students and families entering the online/alternative program.? Assist in developing program policies, expectations, and improvement strategies.Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities? Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and other teachers to ensure student success.? Participate in professional development related to online instruction, alternative education, andemerging technologies.? Maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and uphold all district and state compliancerequirements.QualificationsRequired? Valid state teaching certificate in [relevant content area or K–12].? Experience working with diverse learners and/or students in nontraditional pathways.? Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with students and families.? Comfort with technology, learning management systems, and virtual communication tools.Preferred? Experience teaching in an online, virtual, or alternative education setting.? Knowledge of credit recovery, competency-based learning, or flexible scheduling models.? Experience supporting at-risk youth or students needing personalized learning structures.Work Environment & Physical Requirements? Occasional evening or flexible scheduling may be required for student or family meetings.? Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment.CompensationSalary and benefits determined by district pay scale and board policy.
