This role ensures that all solution designs meet customer expectations while aligning with Pearson VUE’s product and technology roadmap. The architect will provide enterprise-level guidance, governance, and technical leadership to drive scalable, secure, and future-ready solution architectures that evolve VUE products toward their target-state architecture, including modernization, cloud-native design, improved resiliency, and Agentic AI-enabled capabilities.
Key Responsibilities: Architecture & Design
+ Develop robust, end-to-end solution architectures that balance customer needs with Pearson VUE’s strategic technology direction.
+ Lead solution shaping for RFP/RFI responses, pre-sales engagements, and complex customer implementations.
+ Architect solutions that advance key modernization objectives—cloud-native deployments, microservices, event-driven patterns, resiliency, horizontal scalability, and platform consolidation.
+ Evaluate and recommend technology patterns, integration frameworks, and architectural approaches that optimize both customer outcomes and long-term product evolution.
+ Produce architectural deliverables including high level solution approach/designs, conceptual models, sequence diagrams, data flows, standards, and reference architectures.
+ Translate business and technical constraints into actionable design options and implementation guidance for project teams.
+ Resolve day-to-day integration and build issues, ensuring technical consistency and stability across assigned products or services.
+ Produce high-quality design artifacts, including models, documentation, and reference architectures, with minimal revision cycles.
+ Consult on technical feasibility for major features or updates, raising significant challenges to senior experts as needed.
+ Mentor platform/product architects and engineers, sharing best practices and supporting their technical growth.
+ Ensure conformance to established framework guidelines and documentation standards.
+ Collaborate across teams to enable smooth integration and knowledge transfer, driving project efficiency.
+ Adapt quickly to shifting requirements, maintaining solution stability and project momentum.
Key Responsibilities: Implementation & Delivery
+ Translate solution architectures into actionable implementation guidance for engineering and delivery teams.
+ Provide architectural oversight during development, integration, and rollout to ensure adherence to design principles and best practices.
+ Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery.
+ Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, scalability, and availability requirements across global deployments.
+ Support ongoing enhancement of existing systems by aligning technical decisions with target-state architecture and modernization goals.
Key Responsibilities: Collaboration & Leadership
+ Partner with product managers, product architects, platform architects, engineering teams, and customer-facing groups to align on solution direction and roadmap priorities.
+ Provide thought leadership and mentorship to architecture and engineering teams, promoting consistent architectural principles and best practices.
+ Lead technical discussions with customers, stakeholders, and executive audiences to articulate architectural strategies and decision rationale.
+ Influence product roadmaps by incorporating customer needs, industry trends, competitive insights, and enterprise architecture standards.
+ Represent Enterprise Architecture in customer engagements and strategic initiatives, strengthening Pearson VUE’s technical credibility and competitive positioning.
Qualifications
Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Significant experience designing and implementing software architectures in enterprise environments.
+ Hands-on expertise in cloud platforms, API management, and infrastructure automation.
+ Strong background in technical mentoring and cross-team collaboration.
+ Experience resolving integration and build issues in complex systems.
Preferred:
+ Experience in high-availability, high-volume platforms such as scheduling, proctoring, content delivery, or secure assessment systems.
+ Architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, SAFe Architect).
+ Experience applying AI/ML or AgenticAI concepts within enterprise products.
+ Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance standards, and multi-region deployment strategies.
