Job Title: Android DeveloperJob Description
We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to join our team and provide full-time support for our Android application during an important transitional period. This application is crucial for real-time robot control and integrates seamlessly with various hardware configurations, including robots equipped with manipulator arms. As the primary Android developer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the app while we prepare to transition to a web-based platform over the next 6–12 months. You will work closely with the VP of Engineering and collaborate with both software and hardware engineers.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain and update two active Android app versions: standard robot control and robot control with manipulator arm (7-DOF).
+ Integrate the app with a new UXV operator control unit currently in beta.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, merging fixes across multiple Git branches.
+ Optimize video streaming performance using RTSP and GStreamer.
+ Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless teleoperation functionality.
+ Interface with physical robots for testing and validation.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of Android app development experience.
+ Strong proficiency in reading and debugging complex code.
+ Expertise in Git for version control and branch management.
+ Familiarity with video streaming protocols, including RTSP and GStreamer.
+ Understanding of networking protocols, such as Wi-Fi, LTE, and mesh networks.
+ Experience in delivering production-ready Android applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with robotics or hardware-integrated applications.
+ Knowledge of UXV operator control units or similar systems.
Work Environment
The position is based on-site at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, near the stadium district, with an expectation of working 4–5 days per week on-site initially for acclimation and testing. After the onboarding period, semi-remote flexibility will be available. No travel is required.

This is a Contract position based out of Philadelphia, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $100.00/hr.
