Description
Lee County Utilities is seeking a dependable and safety-minded Tradesworker, Meter Services to join our team. This is a field-based role where you will install, maintain, and repair water meters to ensure accurate service and billing for our community. If you enjoy hands-on work, working outdoors, and helping people, this is a great opportunity.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
+ Safely install, remove, and maintain water meters, meter boxes, and related equipment.
+ Record water meter readings accurately using computers and manual methods.
+ Inspect meters and equipment for defects, and repair or replace as needed.
+ Troubleshoot automated water meters and network components.
+ Turn water services on or off according to customer service requests.
+ Locate, clean, and maintain meter boxes; replace covers when needed.
+ Complete required forms, customer notifications, and vehicle inspection reports.
+ Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with the public and coworkers.
+ Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe work practices.
+ Assist coworkers and perform other duties as needed to keep water services running smoothly.
Education, Experience, Licensing
What We’re Looking For:
+ Education: High school diploma or GED.
+ Experience: Six months of trades work or closely related experience. Related experience can include:
+ Plumbing, pipefitting, or general maintenance of water systems
+ Electrical or mechanical repair work
+ Meter reading, utility service work, or field inspections
+ Construction or excavation work involving installation or repair of infrastructure
+ Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Skills & Abilities:
+ Comfortable using computers and software.
+ Able to work independently and follow instructions.
+ Clear communication and good customer service skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical tasks safely.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM. - 3:30 PM.

Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.
