Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Public Health, Bureau of Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner is seeking apart-time Forensic Morgue Attendantto join our team!
The Forensic Morgue Attendant position is a part-time position, 25-29 hours a week, working a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
This position will answer the telephone, recording and distributing information to the proper individual or taking complete messages; logging incoming death calls and recording pertinent information accurately while maintaining confidentiality. Entering data in the case management system for each decedent received.
Receives/stores bodies for autopsy, ensuring bodies are correctly toe tagged.
Releases bodies after autopsy ensuring positive identification and completeness of all appropriate paperwork.
Maintains proper documentation and chain of custody of evidence, clothing, personal effects and decedents.
Maintains secure premises by watching and adhering to security protocols.
Places soiled linens in the washer and dryer.
Background Checks

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. or HSED.

Additional Qualification Requirements
+ Incumbent must have valid driver's license.
+ Incumbent must be able to move heavy objects (bodies up to 300 pounds) by oneself or with the assistance of another.
+ Incumbent must be able to travel at a moment's notice (during shift) anywhere in the state of Iowa.
+ Incumbent must be able to work alone and during non-business hours.
