Purpose:
The Senior Director, Brand Strategy provides enterprise-wide leadership for UPMC's brand strategy and marketing communications. With the Senior Creative Director, this role is responsible for shaping the long-term vision of the UPMC brand, driving integrated marketing initiatives, and ensuring brand consistency across all patient, member, consumer, and community touchpoints. The Senior Director, Brand Strategy partners with internal stakeholders, oversees directors and senior managers, and ensures brand marketing contributes directly to business growth, reputation, and community impact.
Responsibilities:
+ Define and oversee UPMC's enterprise brand strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational and divisional mission, vision, and business goals.
+ Provide senior-level guidance on brand positioning, messaging, and creative direction.
+ Interact and advise Senior Leadership on brand strategy.
+ Lead development and execution of large-scale, multi-channel marketing campaigns and enterprise sponsorships.
+ Direct agency partnerships and negotiate high-value contracts, ensuring maximum ROI.
+ With the Senior Creative Director, manage project management and creative process.
+ Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, presenting insights on budget, brand performance, audience perception, and competitor activity.
+ Oversee brand governance across the system, ensuring consistent application of brand standards.
+ Manage large departmental budgets and allocate resources across initiatives and teams.
+ Lead, coach, and develop directors, senior managers, and managers to build a strong talent pipeline.
+ Foster collaboration across clinical, operational, and marketing teams to achieve shared outcomes.
+ Drive innovation in marketing practices, adopting new technologies, data-driven strategies, and industry best practices.
+ Ensure the UPMC brand maintains a leading reputation in health care and health insurance, regionally and nationally.
+ Deliver measurable outcomes in awareness, reputation, patient acquisition, and community engagement.
+ Build and maintain senior-level partnerships with agencies, media, and sponsorship entities.
+ Ensure enterprise brand campaigns are executed effectively, efficiently, and within budget.
+ Represent UPMC as a senior brand ambassador internally and externally.
+ Provide visionary leadership, aligning brand marketing with long-term organizational growth
+ Bachelor's degree in communications, or related field, or 17+ years of equivalent work experience.
+ 15+ years of relevant experience with degree.
+ Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
+ Advertising agency experience in media, production, and/or brand strongly preferred.
+ Experience with managing and/or mentoring staff.
