Job Description
We want your talent to support activities for complex avionics electronics systems in our growing avionics business areas. Controls and Avionics Solutions provides flight and mission- critical products to more than 170 commercial and military customers around the world.
CAS products include fly-by-wire flight controls, pilot controls (inceptor systems), full authority digital engine controls (FADEC), power management systems, flight deck systems, cabin management systems, weapon controls, autonomous flight systems, and mission systems for the world's most prominent commercial and military aircraft manufacturers. Our growing business is located in the Greater Binghamton area which is home to several sports teams, shopping centers, a growing downtown, the State University of New York at Binghamton, several large healthcare employers and some of New York s top- ranked school districts. A 9/80 work schedule gives employees a great opportunity to experience all that the region has to oer and provides a balanced work and family lifestyle. Job responsibilities for the position include:
+ Root cause failure analysis of components and circuit card assemblies used in avionics and high-power automotive systems
+ Summarize analytical results, present as appropriate, thereby contributing to the company-wide knowledge database
+ Interface with internal operations and component and material manufacturers
+ Recommend corrective actions and risk mitigation practices
+ Research and plan a future roadmap for new alloys and components and ensure that proper processes are in place for successful integration
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Bachelor s Degree in Engineering and3years related experience.
+ Must have an investigative nature and a keen interest in solving highly complex problems, with the goal being root cause determination.
+ Experience in setting up experiments with a goal of a fundamental understanding of outcomes.
+ Experience in troubleshooting PWB and soldering
+ Knowledge of PWBs, ICs, IGBTs, generators, batteries, and related electric devices will be invaluable.
+ Understanding of component fabrication and assembly processes and testing.
+ Familiarity with component and mechanical failure modes and materials.
+ Requires excellent communication skills and authorship of detailed technical reports. Results will support technical discussions with manufacturers, customers, engineers, and all levels of management.
+ Ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities, and thrive in a fast paced, schedule driven environment.
+ Aptitude to eectively lead a small team in gathering evidence and test data to resolve problems.
+ Establish and maintain eective relationships with stakeholders across the functions, from suppliers to BAE manufacturing, to achieve the optimal design and manufacture of the product.
+ Exhibit sound interpersonal skills when interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
+ Adept using word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software applications to prepare reports and analyze data.
+ Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Master s Degree in Engineering Degree and/or5years of related experience.
+ Experience with Tin-Lead and Lead Free Soldering processes and standards.
+ Understanding of PWB manufacturing and assembly processes including reflow, wave soldering, select wave, etc.
+ Knowledge of adhesives, conformal coats, underfills, encapsulants, etc.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $86460 - $146982
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
