Job Responsibilities/Duties
Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

The H2C Training Department is actively seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Maintenance Training Specialist to lead initiatives focusing on Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Electrical Safety. This pivotal role involves independently executing and overseeing all phases of the instructional design process (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) for training programs, ensuring strict adherence to DOE O 426.2 requirements and H2C's rigorous standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Program Management: Provide senior leadership in the development and delivery of complex LOTO and Electrical Safety training programs, setting benchmarks for instructional excellence.
* Strategic Instructional Design: Independently lead the application of the ADDIE model within the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to design, develop, and implement advanced training solutions.
* Expert Content Development: Spearhead the design and development of comprehensive electrical safety training modules, including advanced topics, that are fully aligned with Hanford site Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) requirements for operators, supervisors, and operations management. This includes collaborating with subject matter experts to integrate cutting-edge industry practices.
* Curriculum & Material Mastery: Author and meticulously review a wide array of sophisticated training materials, such as detailed lesson plans, comprehensive student guides, rigorous examinations, advanced On the Job Training and Evaluation (OJT/OJE) guides, Performance Demonstrations, and Job Performance Measures (JPMs).
* Quality Assurance & Mentorship: Serve as a subject matter expert during training presentations, providing expert observation, qualification support, and mentorship to junior specialists to ensure personnel attain necessary knowledge, skills, and safety proficiencies.
* Strategic Planning & Execution: Proactively manage and ensure the timely completion of training development schedules, aligning strategically with Tank Farms maintenance needs and long-term operational expectations.
* Advanced Evaluation & Improvement: Design and implement robust evaluation methodologies to assess the impact of training programs, leveraging advanced learner feedback and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and optimize training effectiveness.
* Interdepartmental Collaboration: Act as a primary liaison with Operations and Maintenance SMEs, fostering strong partnerships to guarantee that training content consistently reflects existing operational conditions, facility configurations, and evolving regulatory landscapes.
Required Qualifications
Grade 19:
* Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) and 9 years of practical work experience in training or related areas, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Grade 20:
* Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) and 10+ years of practical work experience in training or related areas, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Desired Qualifications
* Progressive experience in instructional design and training delivery, with a significant focus on maintenance, LOTO, and Electrical Safety within a highly regulated environment.
* Demonstrated expertise in the full ADDIE model and Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
* Proven ability to independently lead complex training projects from conception to completion.
* Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Advanced educational background in adult learning, instructional technology, or a related field; relevant certifications are highly desirable.
* Thorough understanding of DOE O 426.2 and other pertinent regulatory requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $117,225
Hiring Range Maximum: $162,688
