ASPIRUS ST. LUKE'S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINIC in Duluth, MN is seeking a HOSPICE RN to join our HOSPICE ELECTION PROGRAM team!
Salary Range: $43.29 - $66.22 Hourly
Schedule/Hours: VARIED (ALL) SHIFTS, 8 hours
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
FTE: PART TIME, 0.900000 FTE
Off Premise On-Call: Yes
The Hospice RN provides case management and nursing care for patients, including accurate communication and documentation by self and team in care conferences and the clinical record. Assists with assuring the quality and continuity of Hospice care; the support and continuing education of self and to his/her team members, and the education of Hospital and community agency personnel and the public regarding Hospice Duluth.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Education: See Licensure/Certification/Registration requirements.
+ Experience: Two (2) years nursing experience; or two (2) years LPN experience in homecare or a hospital or surgical area.
+ Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse; Wisconsin RN license within six (6) months of employment. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or Military Training Network. Wisconsin Background Study upon hire and renewed per Wisconsin state law.

+ Experience: Hospice Home Care and/or Acute Care in a hospital setting.
+ Licensure/Certification/Registration: Hospice and Palliative Nurse Certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of computer functions. The ability to use point of care documentation. Extensive knowledge of medical/surgical nursing principles; of inter-disciplinary patient care planning; extensive knowledge of the nursing process, including skills of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation; interpersonal dynamics skills required for providing emotional support to terminally ill patients and families, team leadership and committee work; effective use of written and verbal communication; legal limits of nursing practice; effective decision-making and problem resolution skills; knowledge of the hospice concept of care and the special needs of the terminally ill and their significant others. Skill in working constructively with other persons; to exercise good professional judgment and accept responsibility for case management; to facilitate and base interventions upon informed patient/family choices, to be flexible within areas of responsibility; to follow through on directions; to organize and prioritize responsibilities; to present information to patients and families; skill in assertiveness; to do sitting and driving (providing own transportation); skill in physical assessment of parameters and disease processes to determine changes in physical status requiring intervention and/or notification of Physician; to tolerate extreme changes in weather and temperature; to work in close physical proximity to other staff members; to give and receive written and verbal communications. Ability to regularly travel to and from various duty locations in a safe and timely manner.
+ READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
+ WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
+ SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
+ MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
+ REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
+ AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.

Typical Noise Level - Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to cold, hot, ice and climbing stairs. Possible exposure to second-hand smoke. Contacts with patients under wide variety of circumstances; exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness); subject to varying and unpredictable situations; handles emergency or crisis situation; may perform emergency care; subject to many interruptions; occasionally subjected to irregular hours; travel required; may make home visits; occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquires; require judgment/action which could result in death of patient.
