    The Fluids Lab Technician I is responsible for carrying out the daily activities of the fluids lab as directed by the Fluids Lab Manager. Contribute to a well-organized work group striving to deliver unparalleled results through optimizing instrument operation, instrument productivity, and instrument maintenance and repairs. Maintains a clean and customer friendly facility while adhering to all company, local and state regulations that may apply.

     

    DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    + Collect/Sort daily fluid sample shipments.

    + Prepare solutions, reagents & standards according to standard lab formulas.

    + Analyze oil, coolant & fuel samples as directed.

    + Enter sample results from each instrument into appropriate software.

    + Maintain/Organize lab records.

    + Monitor supply inventory levels.

    + Maintain assigned laboratory instruments daily.

    + Assist on the disposal of fluids and or supplies upon test completion.

    + Research Caterpillar technical information through SIS and other resources.

    + Assist in the mailing and distribution of sample report results.

    + Complete required safety and technical training required to perform this role.

    + Serve as a back up to other lab positions and cross-train.

    + Other duties may be assigned.

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    + High school diploma or general education degree (GED); less than one year of related lab experience and/or training preferred; or one to two years of heavy equipment experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar field.

    + Entry-level understanding of instruments used for testing.

    + Proficient communication and analyzation skills.

    + Basic computer experience and be competent in Microsoft Office applications.

    + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

    + Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees.
